Job Description:

The Research Assistant will be involved in all day-to-day activities in the MIAMI study as part of an expert and motivated team, including the principal investigators, project manager, health economist and statistician. The Research Assistant will mainly be involved in intervention delivery, data collection (quantitative and qualitative), data analysis and reporting of findings in addition to supporting write up of MIAMI publications and conference presentations. The Research Assistant will also have a role in working with the MIAMI panel of public and patient partners who guide and inform the course of this project.

Duties:

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigators and Project Manager of this study
  • Build collaborative relationships with general practice study sites
  • Support the delivery of the intervention in practice sites, including administering Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors and collection of patient urine samples (under supervision)
  • Conduct quantitative data collection, including administering of questionnaires and retrieval of data from practice records. This will require quickly becoming familiar with practice software.
  • Conduct qualitative data collection, including interviews with patient and GP participants
  • Support management of MIAMI qualitative and quantitative data and databases
  • Support the quantitative and qualitative analyses and write up of findings of the MIAMI study
  • Support the SWAT (Study Within A Trial) – to evaluate the feasibility of multimedia presentation of trial information to patients to promote retention
  • Support the drafting and revision of MIAMI publications and conference presentations
  • Engage and work with the MIAMI PPI team
  • Attend core meetings, trial management group meetings and steering group meetings

Qualifications/Skills required:

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification in health or health behavioural related discipline. Those completing a degree in 2022 may be considered if other criteria are met.
  • Enthusiasm to support the administering Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors and collection of patient urine samples (under supervision)
  • Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office applications,
  • Full, clean driving licence and car,
  • Flexibility to travel to participating GP practices as required,
  • Familiarity with key framework/ guideline documents such as the Medical Research Council for developing and evaluating complex interventions and the Behaviour Change Wheel,

Desirable Requirements:

  • MSc level qualification in health or health behavioural related discipline or equivalent clinical experience. Those completing a MSc qualification in 2022 will be considered.
  • Experience with the administration of Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors and collection of patient urine samples
  • Health research experience and preferably experience in working with patients and GPs
  • Certified Good Clinical Practice training
