VRT Compliance Inspectors report directly to the local Test Centre Manager. This position
combines administrative responsibilities with frontline inspection duties, supporting the
accurate and efficient processing of Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) cases in collaboration with
Revenue and Customs authorities.
The role involves managing customer interactions, conducting vehicle inspections to ensure
import conformance, and validating supporting documentation to ensure compliance with
Irish legislation. Occasional travel to nearby test centres may be required.
To deliver a high standard of customer service while providing efficient administrative and
operational support to the Test Centre. The role requires accurate data collection and
validation for import conformance inspections, as well as the physical inspection and
verification of vehicles. All duties must be carried out in accordance with established
procedures, within defined timeframes, and to a consistently high standard of quality and
professionalism.
Customer Service & Administration
Deliver professional and efficient front-line customer service, handling enquiries via
telephone, email, and in person.
Manage confidential information with integrity, ensuring accurate data entry and record
maintenance.
Maintain organised filing systems and support effective internal communication within the
Test Centre.
Address complex or sensitive customer queries professionally, escalating issues where
appropriate.
VRT & Compliance Inspections
Schedule and process vehicles for VRT import inspections in accordance with Revenue
guidelines.
Conduct visual and data-based inspections to verify vehicle compliance and conformance.
Validate that all customs requirements and import duties have been satisfied, including
identification, origin verification, and customs clearance.
Liaise with Revenue, Customs authorities, and internal stakeholders regarding inspection
findings or documentation queries.
Process & Procedure Management
Adhere strictly to established procedures and relevant legislative requirements.
Accurately process payments (cash, cheque, and card) and reconcile financial records.
Support the efficient day-to-day operations of the Test Centre, with a strong focus on
compliance, accuracy, and service delivery.
Leaving Certificate (or equivalent).
Full, clean driving licence (essential).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain professional and composed in a fast-paced or high-pressure
environment.
Proficient IT skills, including data entry, email, and internal systems.
Experience in a customer-facing or public service role.
High attention to detail and ability to follow structured procedures.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Strong report writing skills and a high standard of documentation accuracy.
Knowledge of Irish vehicle importation and customs procedures (desirable).
We currently operate the various shift patterns:
Part-time – minimum of 20 hours per week (Monday to Sunday)
32 hours per week
39 hours per week
Full clean driving license.
