Job Purpose/Summary:
The horticulture Support Worker will work as part of the social and therapeutic horticulture (STH) team whose function is to provide a person-centred STH service that meets the physical, cognitive, social and psychological needs of individuals both living in and attending this innovative scheme for adults with autism in the Cork Area. Through the STH referral pathway, they will work with the STH Coordinator and support the delivery of individual supports, supporting independence and providing the environment for Service Users to achieve their desired outcomes. Key Accountabilities
- To ensure that all work within the scheme is participant focussed and upholds the principles of respect, privacy, dignity, fulfilment, independence and choice.
- To work with small groups of service-users and also on a one-to-one basis, delivering individually-tailored (STH) programmes
- To personally contribute towards a happy and therapeutic environment and to the workings of a caring team.
- To promote health and wellbeing, and provide outdoor activity and physical exercise in a supportive atmosphere.
- To maintain daily records, including job sheets, time sheets and individual portfolios of evidence of work.
- To work together with service-users to expand their existing skillset so that they may use these within the wider community.
- To educate service-users on safe use of tools and materials
- To assist service-users to record activities and achievements by writing simple summaries or drawing pictures.
- To closely observe service-users to monitor their progress.
- To work in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

Experience

Skills & Competencies
- Full valid driver’s license on application and access to own vehicle on appointment.
