As a Data Architect at Optum, you’ll be responsible for working with stakeholders across the organization to understand their data needs and develop solutions to meet those needs. This will involve creating logical and physical data models, as well as designing and implementing ETL processes to load and transform data that will support the build out of our new Payment Integrity Command Centre.  This new capability will be the central data and analytics hub that will monitor the millions of pre-payment and post-payment, clinical and non-clinical medical claim reviews that are performed on a daily basis.  The command centre capability will include:  the build out of new cloud-based central data repository, new user interfaces to manage service-level agreements for various metrics and vendor-partners, development of new business intelligence and advanced analytics to monitor and predict performance; development of an automated alerting system that will actively scan for anomalies  — all with the aim of providing insights to more effectively manage our Payment Integrity operations across the globe.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to understand their data needs and develop solutions to meet those needs
  • Collaborate with data engineering, business intelligence and data science teams: The Data Architect will work closely with these teams to ensure that data is properly structured and available for use in analytics and machine learning tasks.
  • Creating logical and physical data models
  • Designing and implementing ETL processes to load and transform data.
  • Staying up-to-date with new technologies and industry trends related to data management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong background in data modelling and database design
  • Experience with big data technologies
  • Experience with ETL design and implementation
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills with ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating good level of maturity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Databricks and Snowflake
  • Experience with Rally software for agile development
  • Healthcare Experience
