Our Global Device Development organisation is focused on the design, development and commercialisation of a diverse portfolio of device technology solutions to enable delivery for our large and growing generic and branded products around the globe. We develop device technologies to enable drug-delivery for respiratory, biologic, biosimilar and injectable products, and work across Viatris to support innovative technology solutions to provide healthcare solutions for our patients. Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here’s how the Senior Human Factors Engineer/Scientist role will make an impact:

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop and deliver the Human Factors and Usability Engineering programs of Combination Product / Medical Device programs within GDD.
  • Execute User Interface responsibilities within GDD programs in support of device design, risk management and design control activities; develop user requirements of device user interface including labelling based on detailed understanding of the reference product and the intended user profile.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers to ensure that Industrial Design is reflective of the User Requirements and iteratively tested where appropriate to the development program.  
  • Develop and execute the Design Validation strategy commensurate with the defined regulatory pathway.  

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • Degree in a science/engineering/psychology discipline, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable application of usability engineering to device / product design
  • Human-centered design methodology
  • Literate in the requirements of Human Factors and Usability standards and guidance (incl ISO62366, HE75, preferably also Design Control, Risk Management (ISO14971), QMS (ISO13485) and EU MDR.  
  • Execution of simulated testing from early patient handling studies through to design validation.  
  • Experience in leading User related risk assessments and translating the outcomes back into the iterative, patient-centered device design.  
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Illustrator graphics tool.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills incl technical report writing.
  • Willingness to travel on an as-needs basis. averaging 20% of working year.
