Due to continuous growth, an opportunity now exists for a Senior Engineer I to join our engineering team in Galway. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of intensive and diversified technical and process-based tasks such as to support manufacturing within our Hydrophilic Wire department. In addition, managing a dedicated and highly effective team and determining the groups priorities as they pertain to achieving the maximum performance from the production department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Makes decisions on technical problems and methods which require the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. Actively participates in the Operations Tier Management System and works in step with Operations leaders to ensure alignment between Engineering and Operations priorities. Identification, specification, introduction, management and validation of new equipment and technologies in the production department. Providing technical input and leadership on problem solving, resolution of technical processing issues and implementation of process improvements in the production department. Maintains key production indicators and assumes responsibility for maintaining these KPIs. Suggest and drive strategic projects on how production is improved, through awareness of the latest technological and process advancements. Work alongside the management team on overall objectives, new concepts, and policy matters. Supervise the work of Engineers and Technicians or others who assist in specific assignments and work jointly with other senior employees in different departments. Works on special projects, writes ECNs, and creates prototypes. Act as a role model for support team members. Performs other related duties and tasks as required.
SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field related to the department of assignment or industry with six years previous related experience, a master’s degree with four years previous related experience, or a Ph.D. with two years previous related experience. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required for this position. Extrusion and/or Coatings experience desirable but not essential. Ability to independently apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem solving and development. Demonstrated computer skills, preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member. History of managing reports, proven ability to manage teams in an organisational structure (Technician or Engineer reports) Skills, on 3D drawing on SolidWorks, simulation, flow simulation, ISO and ANSI drawings. Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrically powered mechanisms. Lean/Six Sigma Problem Solving Green or Black Belt. Negotiation, leadership, and group management skills.
