Job Description:
The successful candidate will develop novel assays to measure expansions of DNA trinucleotide repeats in cultured human cells. They will work towards creating and refining novel assays to measure and verify trinucleotide repeat expansions. They will also contribute to project management and scientific communication, including funding applications
Duties
- Work independently on developing novel assays for DNA trinucleotide repeat expansions in human cell culture
- Design and perform complex experiments and evaluate results
- Communicate outcomes, both verbally and written, to team members, supervisor, members of the Centre for Chromosome Biology, funding bodies and academic journals
- Assist the Principal Investigator with grant management, in preparing funding applications and in writing scientific manuscripts for publication
- Facilitate communications with industrial collaborators
Qualifications/Skills required:
Essential Requirements:
- PhD in Genetics, Biochemistry or a closely related discipline
- Ability to work and think independently
- Evidence of a strong background in biochemical, molecular biology and genetic techniques
- Evidence of specific experience with fluorescence readouts
- Experience with cell culture and construction of modified cell lines
- Demonstrable experience in scientific writing
- Availability to begin work in May or June 2022

- Track record of peer-reviewed publications
- Experience working with industrial partners
