{"id":4906,"date":"2023-07-25T13:18:24","date_gmt":"2023-07-25T13:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.recruit.ie\/?p=4906"},"modified":"2023-07-25T13:18:24","modified_gmt":"2023-07-25T13:18:24","slug":"parents-leave-set-to-increase-for-working-parents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.recruit.ie\/careers\/parents-leave-set-to-increase-for-working-parents\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent&#8217;s Leave Set to Increase for Working Parents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap\">Some media reports are indicating that the Government has agreed to\u00a0 expand paid Parent&#8217;s leave by two additional weeks starting in April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Parent\u2019s leave is specifically for parents during the child\u2019s first 2 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap\">If the new rules come into effect, working parents will be able to take up to 9 total weeks off in the first two years following the birth of a child.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap\">Under the current rules, new parents are entitled to 7 weeks off with the Parent&#8217;s Benefit payment from the Department of Social Protection. That provides around \u20ac262 weekly, the equivalent of standard jobseeker&#8217;s support.
