Tips for success:
- Tailor it. Reference the job title and company. Generic letters get skimmed and skipped.
- Highlight a key achievement. Show how your experience aligns with their needs.
- Let your voice come through. Personality and professionalism are not mutually exclusive.
- Keep it concise. Aim for 3–4 punchy paragraphs that make them want to know more.
LinkedIn: More Than an Online CV
Your LinkedIn profile is often your first impression, especially with recruiters. Make it count.
Profile optimisation checklist:
- Professional photo (headshot, clean background, friendly & confident)
- Keyword-rich headline (not just your job title—include skills or specialisations)
- Engaging About section (1–2 short paragraphs on who you are, your values, and career highlights)
- Featured section (showcase a project, portfolio, article, or resume)
- Skills & endorsements (keep relevant, up-to-date, and request endorsements)
- Custom URL (personalise it to your name or brand)
