CSO Unemployment Figures Show 0.4% Fall in January 2025

According to the latest statistics from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for January 2025 was 165,400—down by 600 people, or 0.4%, compared to December 2024. In unadjusted figures, the total stood at 165,235, with 56.0% of registered individuals being male and 71.5% of them identified as Irish.

The data reveals that the 25-34 years age group remains the largest cohort on the Live Register, numbering 38,858 people and accounting for 23.5% of the total. Notably, Kildare emerged as the only county to record an increase in the number of people on the Live Register over the past 12 months, with a rise of 111 individuals, equivalent to a 1.8% increase.

In a further positive development, the number of people on the Live Register for less than one year dropped to 108,373 in January 2025. This represents a decline of 6,380 people, or 5.6%, compared to the same period last year. These figures indicate a modest improvement in employment dynamics across Ireland.
