Morocco is stepping into the digital future with the launch of 5G cellular technology, a move that positions the nation as a leader in tech-driven development across Africa. This milestone comes as Morocco prepares to host two major global events: the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, announced the ambitious plan, which aims to achieve 25% population coverage by 2026 and expand to 70% by 2030, with full coverage in the World Cup host cities. Additional efforts include equipping 6,300 public administrative sites with fiber-optic internet by 2026 and connecting 5.6 million homes by 2030.
This technological leap is expected to not only enhance connectivity but also unlock significant economic and employment opportunities, especially in telecommunications, infrastructure development, and IT sectors.
